Poetry writing workshop
Gill O'Halloran

Saturday 13 April 2024, 10am to 11.30am

Venue: Upstairs Classroom, Homestead Education Centre in the Stable Yard

Gill's poetry workshops are for everyone. It doesn't matter if you've never written a line of poetry before; if nature speaks to you, come along! You'll use some simple exercises to play with words and generate images. You'll explore using all your senses to describe nature, try out internal and/or vowel rhymes, and feel the power of condensing language.

The aim of this workshop will be to produce a group poem about our love of nature in Beckenham Place Park.  You'll enjoy a sense of community as well as artistic achievement and creativity.

Price £18.50 (inc booking fee)

Wild Walk with
Wild South London

Saturday 13 April 2024, 12pm-1.30pm

VENUE: Meet at Beckenham Place Mansion

Join Wild South London for a Wild Walk around Beckenham Place Park to celebrate spring and learn about the flora and fauna in the park.

Wild Walks are free events that encourage people to get outside and explore local green spaces. We’ll walk for about an hour, then settle somewhere close by to talk about what we’ve seen and get to know each other better. We encourage walk attendees to share their own knowledge along the way and someone from Wild South London will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about things we come across.

Where to meet
Meet your hosts outside Beckenham Place Mansion (on the car park side of the park) - what 3 words link: https://w3w.co/lowest.crate.origin

Preparation
Please ensure you wear suitable clothing and footwear based on the weather forecast. Some parts of the walk may be on muddy or uneven ground, but we will ensure we make it as accessible as possible. Please note that we will not be eating or foraging for anything on this walk but may point out species we have some knowledge of as foragers.

Children are more than welcome, as long as they are supervised by an adult at all times. Dogs are also welcome but must be on a lead whilst in the garden areas as per Beckenham Place Park's rules.

Follow Wild South London on Instagram to hear about other events: @wild_south_london
